AND INTEL ADDS TO 80186/80C186 FAMILY

By CBR Staff Writer

Also, Intel Corp has added three new C-HMOS products to its 80186/80C186 family of 16-bit microprocessors, which now claims more than 6,000 commercial designs: the new 80C186EC, the 80C186EA and the 80C186XL processors integrate additional peripherals with a new static CPU core, yielding higher performance levels, says Intel, and lower power consumption for embedded system applications; Intel reckons it will ship some 10m 80186 devices this year, including the original 80186 NMOS version, 80C186 and 80C186EB processors; all 80186 and 80C186 chips are available in 80188 8-bit external bus versions.
