…AND IBM PLANS PEER-TO-PEER X25 ON INFORMATION NET

Having at last overcome is abiding detestation of X25 packet-switching, IBM Corp has finally capitulated completely and announced that it intends to offer X25 peer-to-peer communications on the international IBM Information Network,The company plans for the Information Network deliver integrated offerings that include value-added network services, communications management, international communication and user productivity. The expanded X25 will enable users of Open Systems Interconnection to communicate with others over the Information Network, which presently provides only communication between 3270 devices and X25-connected CPUs in the US. Expanded X25 in US is set for second quarter 1992.
