Those touting computer services as the panacea for all the ills of the computer industry are given pause for thought by the news that Electronic Data Systems Corp’s EDS-Scicon subsidiary assesses that it has only 100 vacancies to fill, and 380 employees in posts surplus to requirements. It expects to start issuing over 250 redundancy notices after a 30-day consultation period trimming its workforce by some 6%.
