Fujitsu Ltd last week also announced what it claims is the world’s first notebook personal computer to incorporate the Intel Corp 80486SX chip and carry a price tag of under 200,000 Yen – $1,800. The three models of the FMR-50NL are based on a 25MHz chip, have a standard memory of 2.75Mb and weigh 2.2 lbs; they also support up to two JEIDA standard communication cards and an external monitor if required. The low-price MFR-50NL is a floppy based model which can run the new MS-Windows 3.1J. The FMR-50NE/T, priced at about $4,400 has a thin film transistor colour display and maximum memory of 11.75Mb; it also comes in a monochrome TFT screen model priced at $2,436. Sales will start next month and Fujitsu expects to sell 300,000 of them over the next two years.
