ANALYSTS DISAGREE ABOUT HEWLETT-PACKARD FUTURE FORTUNES

By CBR Staff Writer

Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette Securities removed Hewlett-Packard Co from the brokerage firm’s buy list on Friday expressing concern that there might be similarities between DEC’s international business and Hewlett-Packard’s: however, Prudential Securities Inc repeated its buy rating explaining that Hewlett-Packard is in a different stage than DEC because it has new processors and has been showing very favourable product trends, particularly in its midrange line, success which has come almost at DEC’s expense – meanwhile DEC is just beginning a product transition with a new processor.
