Analog Devices Inc’s Japanese subsidiary is being driven out of the country by soaring costs: Analog Devices KK is to close its Japanese wafer fabrication plant by October and move the work to its Philippine and Taiwan plants. According to the Nippon Keizei Shimbun, the unit is producing 1m analogue parts a month, with annual sales valued at $130m. All but 40 of the 150 staff at the plant will take early retirement.
