Anacomp Inc has decided its acquisition of Xidex Corp was a mistake, but has abandoned its plan to spin most of the company off and instead has agreed to sell the Xidex floppy disk manufacturing operations to Hanny Magnetics Ltd of Hong Kong for an undisclosed sum. The Indianapolis, Indiana computer services company will take an $85m charge against its fourth quarter figures on the sale, which will put it into loss for the year. The Xidex disk business is doing between $130m and $150m a year but is not profitable.
