Amstrad Plc on Friday announced developments covering marketing in Greece and Scandinavia, and a new cost-cutting measure in the UK. In Greece, Amstrad has created a joint venture company, Amstrad Hellas SA, 51% owned by the UK firm with the balance being held by the proprietor of its existing Greek distributor, Micropolis SA. The new company will operate from Athens. In Scandinavia, where Amstrad is not currently represented, the company says it is actively seeking a similar joint venture agreement or the outright acquisition of an established company. And in the UK, the company is transferring Amstrad Distribution Ltd – Amstrad Sales – to its Brentwood, Essex headquarters from its base in Newcastle under Lyme.
