Amstrad Plc, the Essex, UK consumer electronics company and set-top box maker, has leapt back into the black thanks to booming sales of set-top boxes to leading satellite provider BSkyB. In the year to June 30, Amstrad made a net profit of 5.8m pounds ($9.3m), up from a loss of 1.1m pounds ($1.7m) on revenue that rose 76.6% to 94.1m pounds ($151.5m). Amstrad sold its low-end telephony products business for 4m pounds ($6.4m) in June, and says it now plans to concentrate on innovative consumer electronic products.
