Amstrad Plc is in talks to buy Danish mobile telephone manufacturer Dancall A/S, which is in the local equivalent of receivership and agreement is expected next Monday: the UK company, which already has cellular interests via its controlling stake in Betacom Plc, is believed to be willing to take over all of Dancall’s operations via a new subsidiary, saving 175 of the 600 jobs threatened; the collapse of Dancall was caused by prolonged talks about a joint venture company for deliveries of mobile telephones for the European Groupe Speciale Mobile network.
