Veteran storage specialist Ampex Corp may be an attractive takeover target by one of the potential customers currently testing Ampex’s proprietary keepered media technology, BusinessWeek suggests. Keepered technology, which increases the speed and data-storage capacity of hard disk drives, is being tested by Seagate Technology Inc, Western Digital Corp and Quantum Corp, any of which may seek to acquire Ampex.
