Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based AMP Inc, the world’s largest maker of electrical connectors, is to acquire wireless data and telecommunications microwave, millimetre wave, wireless telephone and radio frequency interconnection components maker M/A-Com Inc, the former Microwave Associates, in a share exchange valuing M/A-Com at $360m. AMP says Lowell, Massachusetts-based M/A-Com will form the basis for a new global wireless products group; the companies’ combined sales for 1994 were some $4,500m.
