AMERITIECH PUZZLED BY AT&T’S OVERCHARGING COMPLAINTS

By CBR Staff Writer

AT&T Corp has filed a complaint with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, saying that Ameritech Ohio is overcharging long distance companies every time it connects a long distance call to it’s local phone network. An Ameritech spokesperson told Computergram last night he was puzzled by the complaint especially since Ameritech has lowered its connection fees by an average of 11% a year since 1985. AT&T claims it will pass on any savings produced by lower connection fees to AT&T customers in Ohio. An AT&T spokesperson told Computergram it didn’t know when the official outcome of the complaint would be known.
