Chicago-based Ameritech Corp says it will invest just under $1,000m in fibre optics and electronics, claiming the programme to be the largest committed purchase in telecommunciations history: beneficiaries include DSC Communications Corp of Plano, Texas, which has a three-year contract for Next Generation Digital Loop Carrier and fibre equipment, and Raynet Corp of Menlo Park, California for its Fibre to the Curb, and support systems.
