AMERITECH CELLULAR CUSTOMERS INCREASE BY 30%

Ameritech Corp says its cellular business saw a 30% growth in subscribers in the third quarter with paging customers up 34% to 1.4 million by the close of the companys third quarter. Yesterday, Ameritech reported third-quarter earnings of $1.05 a share before a $0.07 gain from the sale of its stake in Sky Network Television Ltd of New Zealand. That compared with last year’s earnings of $0.94. Also in the third quarter, Ameritech said its access lines grew by a 3.3% annual rate to 20.2 million. Network access minutes of use rose by 11.6% year on year. The company reported third-quarter earnings of $1.05 a share before the gain, beating the First Call consensus of $1.04 a share.
