Irvine, California-based AmeriQuest Technologies Inc says it is one step closer to acquiring full control of Kenfil Inc, the Van Nuys software distributor whose business was ravaged by the Los Angeles earthquake; Ameriquest, which makes hard disk subsystems for personal computers, said shareholders of both approved the second stage of their merger; in June, Ameriquest bought a 51.9% stake in Kenfil, issuing 1.13m common shares in exchange for 3.32m Kenfil shares; in the latest deal, AmeriQuest will issue 1.05m shares for the remaining 3.08m or 48.1% of Kenfil common stock that it does not already own.
