British-born Wilf Corrigan, chairman of LSI Logic Corp and also of the stillborn US Memories venture, has a pithy line to sum up his gloom over the relative decline of the US semiconductor industry: American computers, he says, have become the gift boxes in which Japanese technology is delivered.
