America Online Inc has announced that the official launch date for its next generation software, AOL 5.0, is October 5 1999. Marquee features include an all-new search utility based on technology from Inktomi Corp, a customizable calendar, the long- delayed You’ve Got Pictures photo exchange facility jointly developed with Eastman Kodak, and Shop@AOL, an e-commerce hub. AOL 5.0 will support broadband technologies as well as access from the Palm platform, company sources said.
