The challenge to the validity of Advanced Micro Devices Inc’s patents on programmable array logic parts has failed: the Sunnyvale chipmaker says that its patent on PAL circuits has been upheld in a re-examination proceeding conducted by the US Patent Office; the company looks for a re-examination certificate to be issued next month.
