Amdahl Corp’s future direction is not just in mainframes, but as supplier of turnkey systems, reports Computerwoche: speaking at a German users conference, chief executive Jack Lewis also confirmed that Amdahl will be offering improved Unix systems on its 370 mainframes, and will continue its diversification away from IBM hardware; meanwhile, Amdahl announced that its UTS Release 2.0 Unix derivative is be redeveloped to include improved security features and better interconnection capabilities.
