By CBR Staff Writer

Dr Gene Amdahl’s third bid to discomfit IBM, Cupertino-based Andor Systems Corp, has so far raised all its $2.5m from Indian and Japanese investors – likely including Tata of Bombay, which backed another firm with which Dr Amdahl was associat ed, Elxsi Corp – but he is now seeking another $3m this month from California backers for development of his ultra compact 3090-150 alt ernative to be built in Motorola ECL. The eight-employee firm hopes to bring the box to market at at least 15% below the then IBM price.
