Amdahl Corp reports that it has become one of the first American businesses to have the quality management procedures at its US manufacturing operations certified by the European organisation that expects such certification may soon become a prerequisite for US companies doing business internationally; the certification signifies that the company has satisfied requirements established by the International Standards Organisation of Switzerland, meeting quality standards acceptable to ISO’s 90 member and affiliate countries and an increasing number of those countries’ governments are requiring such certification or its equivalent before buying a vendor’s goods and services; companies have to be recertified every year and the process does not exactly come cheap.
