AMDAHL TO INTEGRATE PENTIUM PRO INTO ITS ENVISTA SERVERS

By CBR Staff Writer

Amdahl Corp is to integrate Intel Corp’s 200MHz Pentium Pro processor, with 1Mb of cache into its EnVista server family. The company says the increased levels of cache, which shows a 22.4% performance increase over current systems, will be particularly important for high capacity, high availability datacenter workloads such as Online Transaction Processing, data warehousing and decision support. The extra cache will provide extra capacity to support more users, more transactions and more complex queries.
