AMDAHL SHOW IMPROVED PERFORMANCE

By CBR Staff Writer

Amdahl Corp says that as well as benefitting from its heavy cost-cutting measures, increased demand and better margins for the company’s mainframe computers contributed to improved performance in its fiscal first quarter, when it turned in a surprise profit: it said effective asset management programs also helped generate $138m in positive cash flow during the latest quarter, in part reflecting a decline in inventories to $435m – from $511m at the end of 1993.
