Amdahl Corp and Fujitsu Ltd yesterday confirmed joint development of their next generation mainframes, with Amdahl’s running IBM Corp operating systems, Fujitsu’s OSIV. Amdahl will continue to build its current 5995M line but the two are working on a manufacturing strategy that will optimise their combined expertise and resources and take advantage of economies of scale.
