AMDAHL FORMS SEPARATE STORAGE PRODUCTS, COMMUNICATIONS PRODUCTS GROUPS

Peripherals are still increasing in importance for the IBM plug-compatible mainframers, and reflecting this, Amdahl Corp has pulled its IBM communications products out of the Peripherals Products group, which is renamed the Storage Products business unit, and has created a new Communications Products group. This takes over the 4745 front-end processor, NPS/2700 line of data networking systems, X25 packet switches and T-1 data networking systems.
