Commenting on its first quarter figures – net profits more than halved but turnover up 12% (see page seven), Amdahl Corp says that the increase in revenues is a result of the initial shipments of the new 5995M mainframes and 6390 disk drives: earnings remained under pressure because of 5995M production constraints and high manufacturing and testing costs that are part of early stages of new products.
