Seems Amdahl Corp’s explosive announcements in the processor and storage arena (CI No 921) came as as much of a surprise to IBM as it did to most of the rest of the computer world, and with nothing much new with which to try to steal Amdahl’s thunder, the Armonkers were reduced to re-announcing some of the things – the new DOS/VSE release, improvements to the 9332 disk, more 9370 ports – that first saw the light of day in last month’s DB2 2.0 launch (CI No 913).
