Advanced Micro Devices Inc is now suing Brooktree Corp alleging infringement of an AMD patent covering a process used in the manufacture of integrated circuits – a process for selective removal of coating material on silicon wafers: Brooktree Corp imports wafers from an offshore foundry that allegedly uses the process without a licence; Brooktree won a judgement of $28m against AMD in US District Court in San Diego last November after a jury finding of patent and maskworks infringement by the company.
