AMD targets government sector with GTSI

Sunnyvale, California-based AMD has teamed with GTSI, a provider of government technology, in an effort to increase its government customer base.

By CBR Staff Writer

The partnership will allow AMD to offer its AMD64 technology and support services to GTSI’s government clientele, claiming to lower IT operating costs and migrate investment protection from 32- to 64-bit applications.

AMD said it will also invest in training for GTSI’s sales and technology practice professionals on the AMD Opteron processor, a 32- and 64-bit processor compatible with x86 technology.

The specialization and professional services support for AMD64 technology is expected to strengthen GTSI’s dedicated HP and Sun Microsystems Technology Practices by adding to GTSI’s integrated IT product line, in a further attempt to help government customers to address urgent IT requirements.
