AMD FURTHER CLARIFIES Q3 PERFORMANCE

Advanced Micro Devices Inc has echoed its earlier warning (CI No 3,239) and said that it managed to produce and ship only one million AMD-K6 processors during the third quarter, short of its goal. The production problems led to a revenue shortfall that the company is saying will lead to an operating loss that is substantially larger than anticipated a few weeks ago. AMD still plans to ship two million K6 chips in the fourth quarter. á
