AMD CUTS WORKFORCE BY 500

By CBR Staff Writer

Advanced Micro Devices Inc, now taking in Monolithic Memories, is cutting the combined workforce by 500 and reducing research and development expenditure, currently running at over 25% of sales, by $10m a quarter: it is abandoning all random access memory chip development apart from that involved with its joint venture with Sony Corp on static RAMs, but will continue to support existing products.
