Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices Inc cut prices on several Flash memory chips by up to 34% in an effort to move customers from the less efficient technology sold by Intel Corp: the new pricing will essentially eliminate the price difference between the technologies – Intel’s chips require a 12V supply while Advanced Micro’s require only 5V; the cut sees Advanced Micro’s 4M-bit part cut to half the price of Intel’s 8M, coming in at $15 to $17 for 100,000-up; it says prices will fall to under $10 by the fourth quarter.
