Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices Inc has told employees that its last 4 wafer fabrication facility will be taken out of service some time after the end of the first quarter of 1992: Fab 5 is in Santa Clara, and produces bipolar integrated circuits; it currently employs about 330 people and all employees will be eligible to apply for vacant positions elsewhere in the company.
