The Sempron model 3500+ and Turion 64 X2 dual-core TL-52 promise to give embedded designers more options at the system level. The chips are designed for the thin client and single-board computing markets.

AMD said Accrosser, Albatron, Aopen, Axxtend, EPoX, and ICP are basing new embedded products on these processors.

AMD’s VP of embedded products Greg White said the new chips were the first in a series of steps AMD expects to take to broaden its embedded product offerings and support throughout 2007, in a statement.

AMD is addressing the needs of embedded designers by making more of our products available for those who require longer than standard component availability, he said.

The AMD64 Longevity Program promises a set of processors with extended standard availability of five years in a bid to address the requirements of designing products for markets that have lengthy design cycles and long life span. Such markets include network, storage, blade and telecommunications servers; digital imaging; and military and industrial controls systems.
