Semiconductor company Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has dismissed reports that it is pursuing a license for ARM CPU technology, adding that it will continue with the x86 architecture for tablet computers.

AMD is set to enter the mobile market supported by its proprietary x86 architecture.Reportedly, AMD will continue to focus on its Fusion APU (accelerated processing unit) strategy.

AMD marketing director John Taylor told IDG in an interview that they had "made a big bet on APUs" which were based on the x86 architecture.

Taylor’s statements come after speculation for over a week that AMD would pursue a licensing deal with ARM, which licences its designs to a many chipmakers, including Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Samsung and Nvidia.

Earlier AMD had announced that ARM vice-president of technology Jem Davies will give a presentation at AMD’s inaugural Fusion Development Summit, to be held between 13-16 June this year.
