Amazon could be making its own Google Glass

Google X lab's project lead goes to work for Amazon.

By Ben Sullivan

Amazon could be makings its own version of Google Glass, following news the e-commerce giant has hired the man behind Google Glass.

Babak Parviz, who worked at Google’s X Labs, announced the move on his Google+ page, stating: "Status: Super Excited", appearing next to the Amazon logo.

Parviz also worked on Google’s smart contact lens project, which can measure the glucose level in the wearer’s blood stream.
He said: "I founded and led a few efforts at Google (among them, Google Glass and Google Contact Lenses are public so far 🙂 prior to moving to Amazon and work on a few other things now.

"It was an amazing ride and it gave me the opportunity to work with some really wonderful people.

"Together, we made a radically new piece of technology real and possibly started a new platform in computing and communication!"

Last month, Amazon released its very own smartphone. Looking to take on the likes of Apple’s iPhone 5S and Samsung’s Galaxy S5, the Amazon Fire phone will start at $199 for the 32GB model. Weighing just 160g and measuring 0.9cm thick, it is powered by a 2.2Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 2GB of RAM.
