Chapel Hill, North Carolina start up, AlterVue Systems Inc, is developing a new virtual reality business software to simplify data presentation. The company’s first product, VRCharts, is designed to help business users present numerical spreadsheets and databases data in multiple dimensions format to assist in forecasting and trend analysis. The idea is to let users demonstrate relationships between sets of data and interpret that data more effectively. VRCharts is intended for use on Windows 95 or NT systems and charts can be viewed with an integrated virtual reality viewer. It has automatic interfaces to Microsoft Excel and Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet programs and can also be used with presentation software including Microsoft PowerPoint, Lotus Freelance Graphics and Corel Presentations. AlterVue Systems developed VRCharts with ElectroHouse Inc, a Raleigh-based virtual reality software development company. The product is in beta and due out in May for $200.
