Motorola Corp’s Altair Product Operations, Wireless Enterprise Division has signed a systems integration contract with IBM’s Customised Operational Services, based in Gaithersburg, Maryland: the IBM unit will resell Motorola’s line of Altair wireless products throughout its 200 US branches, and the family includes the Altair Plus product, a wireless Ethernet local area network, and the Altair VistaPoint system, a wireless local area network link which connects Ethernet networks ranging up to 500 feet apart, both between and within builldings; using 18GHz radio as the medium, Altair products are said to overcome the high costs and delays encountered in installing, expanding, or changing hard-wired Ethernet local area networks.
