The San Jose, California-based US end of Japanese company Alps Electric Inc has introduced a full size parallel port keyboard and full size parallel and serial port numeric keypad for use with portable computers. The Alps LPT-101 keyboard and Alps KPX-17P numeric keypad plug directly into the parallel port of any notebook, laptop or portable computer. The Alps KPX-17S numeric keypad plugs into the serial port. The products come with a pass-through connector cable to support other peripherals. The LPT-101 enables the use of a full-size keyboard; it features audible key clicks, low power and is MS-DOS and Windows compatible. Alps says it is ergonomically designed with two-position tilt adjustment. The two keypads duplicate the numeric layout of standard desktop keyboards and are Windows- and MS-DOS- compatible. The LPT-101’s price is $110. The KPX-17P and the KPX-17S cost $95. All are available now.
