Alps Electric Co Ltd formed a joint venture with Goldstar Co Ltd, Seoul to research and develop next generation thin-film transistor liquid crystal displays. The new, equally-owned, Frontec Inc will be located in the northern Japan city of Sendai and be capitalised at $30m.
