Alps Electronics’ Alps America unit has a $10m contract with Zenith Data Systems for its ASP-1000 matrix printers: Zenith plans to bundle the printers with the Z-181 and Z-183 lap-top computers it is supplying to the US Department of Defense under the $242m contract awarded to Zenith in 1986 – and the size of that contract suggests the Chicago firm will be coming back to Alps for further printers.
