The Alpine Group Inc, the New York information display, data communications and defence electronics holding company whose Alpine Polyvision unit is developing proprietary flat screen technology, is to acquire Atlanta-based Superior TeleTec Inc in a share exchange valued at about $67m. Superior TeleTec, a telecommunications manufacturing company, reported pre-tax profit from continuing operations of $8.3m on sales of $132.1m in the year to March 28. It is also exchanging new Alpine shares for 27% of Alpine Polyvision, which will take its holding in it to 98%.
