Alpha Microsystems Inc, Santa Ana, California has turned in a rotten set of results (Company Results, page seven), and has written off and will soon close its Italian and French operations. It cites poor margins and continuous losses in those operations. Alpha Micro also said it cut 15 positions at head office, and signed a definitive letter of intent to renegotiate the lease for its headquarters, which will cut future facilities expense by nearly $1m a year. It will move all its operations into a single building and vacate the second one.
