An in-flight food caterer has agreed a £10m contract to move its systems onto a cloud platform.
Alpha LSG penned the deal with ICT solutions and services provider, Getronics, to migrate all its business data and 750 of its employees’ details over to the latter’s cloud system over the next couple of months in a move to manage costs.
Alpha LSG was formed when Alpha Flight Group merged with LSG Sky Chefs Europe in October 2012, and the new company settled on a cloud platform as the best way to manage the peaks and troughs of flight travel throughout the year.
Charlie Goakes, IT director at Alpha LSG, said: "We have been working with distributed legacy IT systems that were constraining productivity, creating inefficiencies and additional cost while limiting innovation and development.
"Through working with Getronics, we have integrated all our systems on to a single cloud platform, dramatically increasing efficiency and giving us the flexibility we need to compete in a constantly evolving and competitive marketplace."
The cloud model means the company can now scale IT services up or down depending on the busyness of the travel calendar, instead of paying for infrastructure lying unused for several months a year.
Mark Cook, CEO of Getronics, said: "Business agility is crucial in the travel market, with companies required to flex to meet evolving customer demands over the course of the year.
"Alpha LSG is already seeing the benefits of its new system and we’re confident these will continue in the months and years ahead."
