The agreement with the two Ohio practices comes through MediSync, a Cincinnati-based management services organization that provides management services to both medical groups. Under the agreement, MediSync purchased TouchWorks licenses for PriMed’s 65 multi-specialty physicians and Health First’s 15 family practice physicians, as well as another 120 licenses for anticipated growth.

TouchWorks is a combined electronic health record and practice management product built on a single intelligent platform with Microsoft SQL Server technology to meet medical groups’ clinical and administrative needs.

For physicians, TouchWorks speeds and automates everyday clinical tasks such as prescribing and refilling medications, ordering and viewing tests, and documenting care. The web-based system enables instant access to patient information anywhere at anytime.

For administrators, it combines sophisticated scheduling and financial management tools with advanced features such as rule-based appointment scheduling, multi-resource and recurring appointment features, referral and eligibility indicators, and appointment and claims management.

In our view, Allscripts is significantly ahead of the pack, not only because it’s designed from the physician’s perspective but, importantly, because it will help our physicians track and increase the quality of care we provide across our entire population of 200,000 patients, noted Dr Mark Couch, president of PriMed Physicians.
