Allot Communications has launched MediaSwift, a network and subscriber service which is designed to accelerate internet content delivery (HTTP streamed video and P2P traffic) to broadband subscribers.

MediaSwift synergises Allot’s DPI and caching to provide a unified media caching system to improve quality of experience (QoE). It is offered as an internal blade or as an external system with Allot Service Gateway.

Allot Service Gateway Sigma (SG-Sigma) has 40Gbps of throughput. It reportedly facilitates the introduction of new network and subscriber services, including MediaSwift, service tiering, quota management and self-management.

Andrei Elefant, vice president of marketing and product management at Allot Communications, said: Internet video is the fastest growing application on the web and is already responsible for over 30% of global internet bandwidth. The challenge this presents to service providers worldwide is how to prevent network congestion, assure the subscriber’s internet experience and improve ARPU. MediaSwift enables service providers to meet this challenge with a precision tool that provides a win for both providers and subscribers alike.

Allot Communications is a provider of IP service optimisation systems for DSL, wireless and mobile broadband carriers, service providers and enterprises. Allot’s portfolio of hardware platforms and software applications utilises deep packet inspection (DPI) technology to transform broadband pipes into smart networks that deploy value added internet services.
