Sunnyvale, California-based Allied Telesys International Inc is beefing up its range of Fast Ethernet offerings with a new family of transceivers, and a new Fast Ethernet hub. The new transceivers – which are basically the same model but geared for 100Base-TX, 100Base-T4 and 100Base-FX environments – are said to be fully IEEE 802.3u-compliant. The TX and T4 versions are to cost $300, while the FX model, with a choice of fiber SC or ST connectors, is to cost $550. All are shipping now. The new hub, dubbed the AT-MR908TX, has eight 100Base-TX ports, one of which can be used for the cascading of hubs, while up to eight of the models can be stacked via an optional MR901 Stacking Module, giving a maximum of 94 ports. The hub, which is unmanageable, is to cost $1,050, or $1,260 with the stacking module, which is also available separately for $230.
