Allied Telesis, a provider of secure IP/ethernet switching offerings, has launched SwitchBlade 6000S Series multilayer switches designed to support the increasing traffic demands at the core of IP networks.

The company said that the new multilayer family of core modular switches, suitable for linking edge and distribution layer switches, is intended for enterprise and service-provider networks. The SwitchBlade 6000S Series supports networks coupled with the design flexibility to scale up to terabit speeds.

Allied Telesis claims that the 6000S Series’ modular design guarantees scalability and ensures high network availability through the isolation of module failures. Separate modules dedicated to both device management and packet processing provide the flexibility to add bandwidth as needed on a per-slot basis. The new multilayer switches support IPv4 and IPv6 and virtual routing functionality (VRF).

Dael Bartlett, product strategy and marketing director at Allied Telesis, said: The SwitchBlade 6000S Series is the next step in our evolution as a conscientious innovator responding to the needs of our customers.

“We have always had a strong set of solutions at the edge of the network, and the introduction of the Switchblade 6000S Series adds to the network core the same level of reliability and capabilities our customers have experienced in our access and aggregation devices.
