ALLIED TECHNOLOGIES MERGES TELECOMS DIVISION OF STC SOUTH AFRICA WITH TELECOMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGIES TO FORM NEW TELECOMS FIRM

South Africa’s Allied Technologies Ltd, Johannesburg, has merged the telecommunications division of its wholly owned STC South Africa with Telecommunications Technologies Pty where it owns 50% and Alcatel NV the balance, to create the Republic’s largest telecommunications firm with 3,300 employees and annual sales of $200m: Alcatel is exchanging its stake in Telecommunications Technology for 12% to 15% of the combined firm and $15.5m cash.
